Here is my latest letter that I have sent off to Congress and my local AZ Representatives:

Please oppose increased government involvement in health care. Please work to reduce government involvement in health care.

The Senate Finance Committee finalized a healthcare bill without knowing what it will cost. That’s irresponsible.

Even worse, you guys are hiding the true costs of your proposals by pushing their full implementation beyond the 10-year accounting window used by the Congressional Budget Office. That’s fraudulent.

If corporate CEOs behaved this way you’d use Sarbanes-Oxley to put them in jail.

Madoff defrauded in the billions. You guys commit fraud in the trillions. DO NOT PASS THE HEALTHCARE BILL!

There is so much fraud is other Government programs that should be corrected before we enact another such program that will be riddled with deficit. Tort Reform, need I say more? You should also seriously think about opening up Healthcare across State lines to increase competition. This is a no-brainer that DC apparently can’t get through their thick skulls. By the way, can you name one Government program that is a profitable one? Let me know when you figure it out – I’ll be waiting. And yes, this is the exact reason why a majority of people DO NOT want the Government in our healthcare; because it will be a disastrous FAILURE!

It has been reported that Harry Reid has apparently written in special treatment for his State of Nevada where they don’t have to pay as much (along with 3 other States) while some States (like CA) have to pay more than the norm? This is ludicrous!

Just know that ‘We the People’ are watching and if you pass this Bill without reading it, without giving the US public the chance to read it, or use the ‘nuclear’ option – we will give you a ‘pink-slip’. You represent ‘us’! Are we clear?

I cannot believe the sorry state of affairs that both Democrats & Republicans have gotten this great country into. Money has corrupted DC and every politician out there. Congress is out of control and out of touch with reality. You should all be fired! This is not how this country was founded nor was intended to be run.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves!

Anyone think they will get the message? Feel free to copy, re-use, alter/edit this letter for your own use to send onto Congress should you feel the same burning passion I do.

Bob

And of course the liberal media would never tell you that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to include a VAT tax to help pay for the healthcare. OH BUT IT’S FREEEEEE. This is what liberals love to do — take your hard earned money and spread the wealth to those who don’t earn it.

She says it “would not result in an increase in taxes on middle-class Americans.” WHATEVER… The VAT would add tax on almost all steps of production. Businesses WILL pass the cost on to consumers through higher prices. In the end we will be paying for it.

They “LOST” 9 Trillion dollars of our money… hey let’s give’m more!

I’m all for more competition. I’m all for letting the insurance companies get screwed over. How many times have they profited from death? Why should anyone be denied their basic right for survival because there is no profit?

I pay my bills. I work hard for my money. I have no problem helping out someone else that isn’t as fortunate as I am (obviously not as happy that leeches work as they do… but I can’t fix everything). I don’t like that I am now pigeon holed into my current health insurance and they will continue to raise my rates as I age, due to a freak accident (on the ice no less). So I hit my head once in 10 years playing hockey. Does it make sense that the rest of my life I have to pay for such a thing?

I will be denied health insurance across the board if there is ever a lapse in my coverage (aka my over priced premiums).

Let the government subsidize my health care. Please do. I don’t think BCBS should get a large chunk of my monthly income to cover my (on average) 3 doctor visits a year. Should I really pay them 4k+ per year for one freak event in 10 years? I think not.

On the other hand, can I afford to not have health insurance? Certainly not.

Your arguments come from the view of the lucky and those that work for corporations. Venture out on your own, run your own business and see what happens once an accident happens.

Insurance companies are the real problem with health care, this bill that has just passed is the first step (and falls far short of the progress we could have made!) toward helping the population as a whole.

    Happy skating.

    Eric,

I see your points and I do agree with some of them. There should be more competition, a person should not be dropped due to pre-existing conditions, a lapse in coverage should be irrelevent (especially since HC in the USA is tied to an employer). I grew up in Canada and I have lived this system firsthand. And now, the system is failing. Doctor’s are leaving the country and there are lotteries in some cities just to get to become a patient of a doctor. How sad is that? Waiting lines are common place any more and I’m not just talking about a day or 2. I mean months to years in some cases.

Insurance companies are not the only problem despite what the gov will tell you. It’s a variety of things: government laws and fraud(huge part) are a couple of decent contributors as well. Do you think that if the gov tells the insurance companies they have to cover everyone regardless of health history that your rates won’t go up? Who do you think the cost of that is going to be passed onto? You and me…and you’re kidding yourself if you think otherwise. If someone has the money to pay for care when they need it, why should they be forced to have to buy HC when they don’t need it?

I don’t agree with the current legislation that was passed. There are numerous other ways to bring the cost health costs down. Insurance across state lines…if I can get cheaper insurance from MN or WA than in AZ, why shouldn’t I be allowed to do so? Why not have tort reform? Solve this problem and more $$ stay in every one’s pocket. Doctor’s nowadays practice defensive medicine and not preventative care. Tort reform isn’t addressed because the lawyers are lining every politician’s pocket with donations to keep away from this very issue. Senator John Kyl (AZ) studied that if the government could enable tort reform, there would be a $100B savings. That’s more than enough to cover every one who isn’t covered. HC is just a power grab for the government to control our lives.

As you see with the current lawsuits being filed by individual states, do you really think that the Federal gov’mt knows what is best for the people? I don’t think so. In my case, the State of AZ will know what’s best for us Arizonans and possibly even more so at the municipality level. The Fed is trying their “one bucket fits all” approach and that never works. They are a bunch of power-hungry, bureaucrats that are out of touch with reality. Just look at all the other government programs that are a failure – USPS, Soc Sec, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. Can you name one that isn’t a failure? Heck, USPS recently announced a $7B yearly loss. So now what is USPS doing to try to fix that? They’re looking at ways to cut service – like no more delivery on Saturdays. That’s the reality of what happens…again, look at Canada or the UK.

You don’t have to tell me about paying bills and working hard. I never came from a family with money but I was wise enough to understand at a young age that getting an education would take me farther than if I didn’t. I worked hard to put myself through college/university and I paid all my loans back (with interest). By no means and I well off now but I elected to take personal responsibility for myself and my family to be able to provide such a privilege to them.

If I had to work for everything that I have, why shouldn’t someone else have to earn their living and keep too? People that leach off the system, should be cut off and we both know there is all too much of that.

Sounds like you enjoy hockey. It’s my fav sport and…right back at you…Happy Skating! Hockey rules!
